Nicholas Stead

I am going into my junior year at Kent County High School. Growing up in Galena my whole life, there wasn’t much to do so I quickly became infatuated with music, specifically hip-hop. It became my biggest passion. I still love to listen and review music and even as my taste has grown broader, I’m still most fond of hip-hop. The HHTC has given me the opportunity to make my own music, which I never thought I could do. My inspirations in terms of music would be Earl Sweatshirt and JPEGMAFIA however, more personally, I would call myself my own biggest inspiration. I don’t believe anybody pushes me further than myself. My dream is to make it into Penn State and major in business in hopes I can use that to one day open my own vinyl shop here in Kent County, which gives other music fans a place.

Dime

My full name is Nicholas, however for as long as I can remember, those close to me have called me Nickel. Coin jokes are very common when I introduce myself, but “Dime” is my favorite given its context. I was the only freshman starting on our school's varsity soccer team and the boys on the team called me Dime because they needed a one syllable name to yell to me on the field and because I “drop dimes on the field” meaning I was a good passer. Those seniors ended up becoming huge role models to me and became my big brothers. We made history together becoming the first Kent County boys soccer team to win a regional title so now whenever I run into any of them and I hear them call me Dime, it warms my heart in a way.
