Big Pres

The alias: “Big Pres” was actually inspired by the Hip Hop Time Capsule’s director, Pat Nugent, who suggested the MC name after I had expressed an interest in running for presidency in the interview for the internship. I stuck with it after a while of using the nickname to sign my work during the program. I just liked the way it sounded, and the connection it had to my interests outside of the internship. In a way, the name almost represents leadership, and authority. The alias differs from me in the way that when I use it, I am already a president, in power over my own world. Though the name isn’t directly symbolic of anything, it gives me courage to publicly speak and express myself through hip hop.
